Cockatiels

Cockatiels are social birds which are known for their intelligence. They are a highly popular choice for an exotic pet bird as they are great companions. Cockatiels love to entertain and give their owner love and affection.

They have orange cheek patches and yellow crests. The bird itself can be white, gray or yellow.

Pet cockatiels generally live from 15 to 20 years depending on what you feed them and the environment that you provide for them. Poor nutrition will obviously result in a shorter life.

Cockatiels tend to be gentle birds and they are not as active or destructive as other parrots. They love being talked to by their owner so if you are thinking about getting a cockatiel, make sure you have the time to spend with him or her every day.

Unlike some other birds, cockatiels actually like to be touched by their owners. They may even persuade you to stroke them by bending their heads down and sometimes they even preen people on their eyebrows and hair!

Cockatiels are not as loud as most other parrots and for this reason people choose cockatiels over other pet exotic birds.

Cockatiels need a variety of foods in their diet like fresh fruit and vegetables, chicken and even table scraps to a degree.
Did you know that cockatiels need up to 12 hours of sleep per night to stay healthy? This is good news for you, as it allows you to sleep too!

Cockatiels are wonderful pet birds and one of my person favorites due to their gentle nature, intelligence and affection.
